Erosion of Judicial Independence and Attacks on Lawyers in Turkey
A joint stakeholder factsheet report on the erosion of judicial independence and attacks on lawyers in Turkey has been submitted jointly by various European and international lawyers' associations for the 35th Universal Periodic Review (UPR) on Turkey which will begin in January 2020. The DAV and other co-signers call i.a. for immediate end to systematic arrests, detention and prosecution of members of the legal profession and the judiciary. They also call for a termination of all practices that hinder fair trials and restrict judicial and prosecutorial independence.
